Artist Bio
Svetlana was born in Moscow, Russia. In 1992, she completed a Bachelor of Arts course in Russian Language and Literature at the Moscow Pedagogical University. During the 90s, Svetlana attended workshops at a small local art studio in Moscow, where she studied the traditions of Russian Folkloric painting that have greatly influenced the development of her distinctive artistic style. Svetlana currently lives and works in Toronto, Ontario.
Svetlana’s work explores fluidity in visual storytelling with her unique usage of shapes and silhouettes applied to a flat surface. Her technique helps her build an intricate labyrinthine language to portray narratives, emotions and concealed characters.
